Three Muslim businessmen belonging to fanatic Muslim community were arrested from Bankra in Howrah on Sunday evening for allegedly spreading communal hatred against Hindus through a video that they posted on social media sites in the afternoon.
The hatred video against Hindus made during Ramadan went viral and posed as attractive among the Muslim community but found utterly repulsive among the Hindus around adjacent areas.
The police launched a search operation and picked up Sheikh Nizamuddin, Sheikh Noor and Shaikh Imran from their hideouts in Bankra. They were charged under Section 295A of IPC for deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings, among other offences. The accused, aged between 32 and 36 years, are promoters and suppliers of building materials. They were produced in a Howrah court on Monday and remanded in police custody for further investigation.
The three allegedly posted a three-minute-11-second video that went viral. The Howrah City Police and the Howrah district police claimed the video contained hate messages.
The cops took measures to ensure there was no communal flare-up, particularly in communally sensitive areas. Domjur police station launched raids in Bankra and its adjoining areas and picked up the trio who confessed to have posted the video. IC Domjur Subir Ray said, “They have been arrested for posting a video the contents of which reveal they intented to spread hatred.”
In the hatred video, the arrested trio challenged the Hindus not to shout “Jai Shri Ram” and disgustingly attacked Hindu sentiments by abusing Lord Rama and Lord Ganesh. They also threatened Hindus in order to rape their mothers and daughters and also cut them all into pieces if Hindus indulge in saying ‘Jai Sri Ram’. Even one of the Muslim culprits ventured upto surfacing his idea to cook and eat hands and legs of Hindus after chopping those one by one.
As the Howrah police commissionerate took prompt action against the culprits, the situation remained under control ultimately. Howrah Police appealed everybody not to indulge in any communal campaign against peace and harmony.
