Another former Guantanamo Bay detainee has resurfaced on the battlefield, only this time it was in the country of Spain. The Associated Press reported that although the suspect was not identified, he was described as, “A leader who was trained in handling weapons, explosives and in military tactics.”

The former Gitmo was apprehended along with three others who were believed to be recruiters for the Islamic State. The terrorist cell had established contacts, and were in the process of purchasing weapons and explosives to carry out an attack on Spanish soil when they were apprehended.

This is not the first Guantanamo Bay prisoner who has been released, only to return to the battlefield where they have been caught plotting the murders of innocent people in the name of Allah.

Former Al Qaeda bomb-maker, Tariq Mahmoud Ahmed Al Sawah, who is described as a “medium-risk” has also been transfered out of the prison. Al Sawah is believed to be the man who developed the shoe bomb that was used in the attempt to take down another American airliner as well as the IED that is used to sink naval vessels.

Jihad recruiter and former bodyguard to Osama Bin Laden, Mohammad al Rahman al Shumrani, was released earlier this year by the Obama administration. Al Shumrani has pledged to continue his efforts to kill people, and has not renounced his belief in radicalized Islam.

Probably the most egregious release of Gitmo prisoners involves the Taliban Five, who have, since their release, resumed their threatening activities. It’s okay that the five senior terrorist leaders may be helping to kill American soldiers at this very moment, however, because in exchange for their freedom, the Taliban had to give up Bowe Bergdahl, an American soldier who stands accused of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy.

With less than 100 prisoners left in Guantanamo Bay, Barack Obama’s administration seems to be subscribing to the fisherman’s policy of ‘catch and release.’ Once America has a dangerous terrorist leader, bomb-maker, or recruiter, they should just let them go back ‘into the lake’ to be caught another day.
